The house
A miller’s house that’s been warm since 1893
Tansy Falls Grist Mill ground corn and buckwheat here until 1951. The mill is gone, but the millrace still runs under the garden and the old wheel turns in spring when the creek is high. Nora and Gil Whitcomb bought the house in 2016 and opened four rooms the next year.
You’ll find a stone room with a woodstove where breakfast is served and where guests read in the evening, a bench by the water and a kettle that’s always on.
- Check-in from 3 pm, checkout by 11 am
- Free parking and an electric car charger
- A hot breakfast every morning, included

Breakfast
Coffee, scones and something hot
Served from 8 to 9:30 in the stone room. A baked egg dish or oatmeal with fruit, Nora’s sour cherry scones and jam from the farm down the road. Tell us about allergies or diets when you book and we’ll cook around them.

“We drove up for the foliage and took the Hayloft Suite. The stairs are real, so read the page, but the room under the rafters was worth every one of them. Gil had a pot of cider on when we got back from the falls.”

“Our beagle got a biscuit at the door and a spot on the Sluice Cottage porch. The total on the booking page was the total on our card, tax included. No surprises, which is rare.”

“My husband uses a walker. The Orchard Cottage has no steps, the shower has a real bench and Nora had actually measured the doorways and told us the numbers. We will be back in the spring.”
