How we got here

From a spreadsheet job in Philadelphia to a kettle that’s always on

We came to Tansy Falls for a long weekend in 2015 and found the miller’s house for sale. Nora had run an office for 14 years; Gil built furniture on the side. We bought the house in 2016, fixed the porch and the roof first, and opened four rooms in the spring of 2017. The cottages came later: Sluice in 2019 and Orchard in 2022.

We’re a small place, and we’d like to stay one. Five rooms means we know your name when you arrive and your breakfast order when you sit down.

“We drove up for the foliage and took the Hayloft Suite. The stairs are real, so read the page, but the room under the rafters was worth every one of them. Gil had a pot of cider on when we got back from the falls.”

“Our beagle got a biscuit at the door and a spot on the Sluice Cottage porch. The total on the booking page was the total on our card, tax included. No surprises, which is rare.”

“My husband uses a walker. The Orchard Cottage has no steps, the shower has a real bench and Nora had actually measured the doorways and told us the numbers. We will be back in the spring.”
